This is an absolutely hilarious satire of female office culture with a bone-dry sense of humor. Like, imagine Daria as the narrator, but a little drier than that.
Millie is a disaffected millennial hoping to go from temp to perm in a Chicago office. Her job isn’t important, and neither is she, at least that’s how she feels. Read this book for its charming wit, it scathing sarcasm, its disdain for the lives demanded by late-stage capitalism, and for an ending that any other author would ruin, but which Butler totally nails.
