Secret Book (Francis II)

If you’re anything like me, you love a narrative that lives on the fringes, hiding in the shadows while gnawing at its fingers and becoming lost in the labyrinthine caverns of its mind. You love authors who wrest these narratives from any light and pitch them into extreme darkness, twisting and torturing the characters and plot until their cries for mercy are as faint as far-off birdsong on a cold spring day. This novel is, for me, one of the darkest and most deliciously depraved books in this lauded author’s already bleak oeuvre.
